On January 8, 1968, the USPS issued a stamp to honor America's foremost architect of the 20th century Frank Lloyd Wright. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Buffalo, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above. In 1904, Wright completed the Administration Building for the Larkin Company in Buffalo, NY. While in that city, he also designed homes for three of Larkin's executives. For this reason, Buffalo was selected as a co-city of issue along with Spring Green, WI. The stamp features Wright with the Guggenheim Museum in the background.
The black and white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Frank Lloyd Wright as well as his masterpiece Fallingwater in Bear Run, PA.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
