On July 15, 1998, the USPS issued a set of four stamps to honor four Gospel Singers..... Clara Ward, Mahalia Jackson, Sister Rosetta, and Roberta Martin. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with all four stamps cancelled from the city of issue (New Orleans, LA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features a quartet of Gospel Singers against a backdrop of a church stained glass window. Historic, collectible, this is a great piece of Gospel and postal memorabilia. The combination of having the complete set of stamps, plus the outstanding artwork give this cover its value.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
