On March 3, 1995, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 150 Anniversary of Florda Statehood. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp, depicting a lively gator, cancelled from the city of issue (Tallahassee, FL) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) shows a moonlit Florida swamp with Spanish moss hanging from the branches of the cypress trees. The artwork is rendered in watercolors.
