On August 28, 1965, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 400th Anniversary of the founding of St. Augustine, Florida by Pedro Menendez Aviles - the first permanent European Settlement in the New World. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (St. Augustine, FL) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) shows a portrait of Aviles and a small drawing of the Fort, which, still stands today. Historic, collectible, this matted cover represents a beautiful way to display a piece of Florida Memorabilia on your wall.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
