On May 19, 2005, the USPS issued a set of twelve stamps to honor MASTERWORKS OF MODERN AMERICAN ARCHITECTURE. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the Library at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, New Hampshire. The envelope has the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Las Vegas, Nevada) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features an interior view of the Library which can shelve 250,000 volumes as well as 210 study carrels. The architect Louis I. Kahn is also known for designing the Yale University Art Gallery.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included as well as a short commentary on this MASTER OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE***
