On June 7, 1979, the USPS issued a set of stamps commemorating four Endangered Flora and to call attention to the dwindling habitat for many native flowering plants.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with all four stamps, depicting the Persistent Trillium, Hawaiian Wild Broadbean, Contra Costa Wallflower, and the Antioch Dunes Evening Primrose, cancelled from the city of issue (Milwaukee, WI) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the Dwarf Lake Iris, another endangered flowering plant found near the water's edge in the Great Lakes area.  The producer of this cover has written a brief commentary about the Dwarf Lake Iris, its blue-purple flowers creating a carpet of color in late spring-early summer, which we've included.

Double matted in green and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
