On March 5, 1991, the Royal Post of Great Britain issued a stamp to honor one of the most important scientists of all time - Michael Faraday.  His scientific 'firsts' include:  Identifying the organic compound benzene; inventing the first electic motor and dynamo; the discovery and naming of diamagnetism; and, the development of the theory that electricity travels in waves, leading to the invention of radar.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Edinburgh) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a drawing of Faraday with the 'tools of his craft' whirling around his head, symbolizing his creative genius.  The producer of this cover has also written a brief commentary about Faraday, which we've included.

Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity and Commentary Included***
