Edward M. Kennedy..... Shown here is a genuine Commemorative Postal Cover - an envelope with the USPS cancellation 'freezing' the day (August 25, 2009) and place (Hyannis Port, MA) of the death of Edward M. Kennedy.
On a commemorative Cover the stamps serve the purpose of supplying
current postage, for, without it, the post office would not affix a
postmark. The three stamps making up current postage are a 25-cents US
Flag stamp, the 5-cents In Memoriam stamp for his brother John F.
Kennedy, and the 15-cents stamp honoring his other brother Robert F.
Kennedy.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Kennedy in front of the US Capitol Building printed on silk.
