Eagle Scout - Scouting Centennial....
The full-color print of the pinning ceremony of an Eagle Scout by Norman Rockwell is joined by a genuine First Day Cover for the 44-cents stamp commemorating the 100th Anniversary of the Boy Scouts. The addition of three older stamps, added to the envelope and then cancelled along with the new stamp on the first day of issue (July 27, 2010) from the city of issue (Fort A.P. Hill, VA), elevate this cover to a Combo. The three older stamps begin with the
3-cents stamp issued in 1950; the 4-cents stamp designed by Norman
Rockwell and issued in 1960 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the
Boy Scouts; and, the 22-cents stamp issued in 1985 as one of four
different stamps to celebrate International Youth Year. Note the large
postmark - with its 'wood' border, three stripes, and the word
'Scouting' in large letters - designed expressly to cancel the new stamp
on its 'birthday.' The cachet
(artwork on the envelope produced by a private company since the USPS
is not allowed to put their own cachets on the envelopes) shows an old
Boy Scout Poster and the words "100 Anniversary Year - Loyalty,
Patriotism, Service." The picture is printed on silk
surrounded by an embossed gold border. This particular company only
produces these Combos in limited quantities - they will run out!
If
there is a young man in your life becoming an Eagle Scout in this
Centennial Year, this piece will be a treasured heirloom. We've mounted
the cover in a special way to preserve its mint condition status.
Matted in green, it's sized to fit a standard 11 x 14 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
