On January 12, 2000, the USPS issued a set of 15 stamps to commemorate the decade of the 1980's. This set joined with the other 9 decades and formed the 150 stamp set called Celebrate the Century. After an elaborate voting process, the 15 stamps representing the 1980's were selected - one of which is shown here on this remarkable First Day Cover. The movie E.T. broke all box office records and delighted audiences young and old alike.
A First Day Cover is an envelope with the stamp cancelled from the city of issue (in this case Titusville, Florida) on the first day of issue, captioned above. In sort, it's the "birthday" of the stamp - collectible, historic, a great addition to your wall.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) takes up the entire envelope and features the memorable bike ride across the moon. Double Matted in blue & white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
