On June 27, 2001, the USPS issued a set of ten stamps to commemorate Ten Classic Ballparks. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for Ebbets Field, home to the Brooklyn Dodgers until 1957. The stamp for Ebbets Field is cancelled from the city of issue (Chicago) on the first day of issue captioned above. Instead of the usual one city of issue selected for the vast majority of stamps, this set of ten stamps had FOUR....Chicago, Detroit, New York, and Boston.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the exterior of Ebbets. It's printed on silk, the luminosity giving an-almost three dimensional quality to the picture.
Double matted in blue and white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
