The 37-cents stamp depicting Theodore Seuss Geisel and his drawings, including the Cat in the Hat, is cancelled from the city of issue (LaJolla, CA) on the first day of issue (March2, 2004.) The cachet (artwork
on the envelope, produced by a private company - not the USPS) features
Dr. Seuss at his drawing board. The original artwork was rendered in
watercolors by award-winning cachet artist Sue Allen.
