On May 14, 1988, the USPS issued an imprinted postcard to commemorate the airplane that did more than any other to get America flying...the DC- 3. Built by Douglas, there were more DC-3's built than any other aircraft in the world. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, in this case an imprinted postcard with the imprint or "stamp" cancelled on the first day of issue (captioned above) from the city of issue (San Diego, Ca.)
The cachet (artwork on the cover) shows the interior of a DC-3 and one being loaded with mail. If you flew a DC-3. worked on a DC-3, or just plane (pardon the pun) love this old workhorse, this is a great piece of aviation memorabilia to display on your wall.
Double matted in blue & white, we've sized it to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included as well as a short history of the DC-3***
