On January 13, 1989, the USPS issued an imprinted postcard as a part of its America the Beautiful Series. The Desert Southwest is shown here on this genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new "stamp" cancelled from the city of issue (Tucson) on the first day of issue captioned above. In short, it's the 'birthday' of the stamp - a collectible, historic piece of postal and southwest memorabilia. The imprint on the postcard is treated just like a separate stamp. ***Note: Check out the clever cancellation designed to cancel this "stamp" on the 1st Day of Issue.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a gorgeous desert scene with a soaring golden eagle or vulture - take your pick. It's printed on silk which gives it a lovely luster. Combined with other Southwest art on your wall, this piece of postal stamp art will be a source of pride and conversation.
Double Matted in green and brick red (brownish red) it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
