Blue Hen Chicken... On April 14, 1982, the USPS issued a set of fifty stamps commemorating the State Birds & Flowers. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp, commemorating the State Bird (the Blue Hen Chicken) and State Flower (the Peach Blossom) of Delaware, cancelled from the city of issue (Washington DC) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) again features the Blue Hen Chicken with a cascading branch of Peach Blossoms. The producer of this cover has also written a brief commentary about the Blue Hen and the Peach blossom, which we've included.
Double matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
