On September 5, 1979, the USPS issued an individual stamp to commemorate the upcoming Summer  Olympic Games of 1980 and the sport of Javelin Throwing, one of the ten events which make up the Decathlon, the winner being declared the greatest all around athlete in the world. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp  cancelled from the city of issue (Olympia, WA) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a Decathlon Competitor and small views of Javelin Throwing. The producer of this cover has written a short commentary about the Decathlon event. Historic, collectible, this is a great piece of Decathlon Memorabilia.

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included plus the Commentary***
