On June 6, 2001, the city of Bedford, Virginia dedicated its stirring D-Day Memorial. On this day in 1944, the tiny town of 3200 lost 19 of its young men from the 29th Infantry Division of the National Guard on the beaches of Normandy.
We've paired this full-color photo print with an uncancelled, collectible US stamp issued in 1994 commemorating the Allied invasion on D-Day. The stamp, depicting Allied forces landing on the beach, was one of ten issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of ten different WWII events of 1944.
Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.
