On October 3, 1990, the USPS and the Soviet Union issued a set of four stamps called Creatures of the Sea. The four animals celebrated are the Common Dolphin, the Killer Whale, the Sea Otter, and the Northern Sea Lion. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the Common Dolphin with the stamp cancelled from the U.S. city of issue (Baltimore, MD) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special postmark designed to cancel this set of stamps in the U.S. on their 'birthday'....Moscow was selected as the city of issue in the Soviet Union.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features this spirited sea mammal. The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary about the common dolphin, which we've included.
Double Matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
