On September 7, 1984, the USPS issued a set of four stamps celebrating Eight Dog Breeds, seven of them American (can you guess which one isn't?) The Breeds are the Beagle, Boston Terrier, Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Cocker Spaniel, Alaskan Malamute, Collie, Black & Tan Coonhound and American Foxhound. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover cancelled from the city of issue (New York City) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a Gold Replica. This is an impression taken off the plate that makes the stamp and coated in 22 kt gold to prevent tarnishing, and, frankly, because it looks great! The producer of this cover has also written a short commentary about each dog. We have included a copy for you. Historic, collectible, unaddressed, it's a great PIECE of Dog Memorabilia.
Matted in green & bugandy, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. *** Certificate of Authenticity Included***
