On September 22, 1969, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Dartmouth College Case which established that 'No state shall pass any law impairing the obligation of contracts.' Shown here is a genuine FIRST DAY COVER, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the CITY OF ISSUE (Honover, NH) on the FIRST DAY OF ISSUE captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the center of Dartmouth campus as well as the lawyer who, not only pled the case on behalf of the college in front of the Supreme Court, but was also an alumnus of Dartmouth...Daniel Webster.
Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
