On July 17, 1965, the USPS commemorated the 700th anniversary of the birth of the celebrated Florentine poet, Dante Alighieri. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with Dante's stamp cancelled from the city of issue (San Francisco, Ca.) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a black & white portrait of Dante, author of The Divine Comedy Historic, collectible, it's double matted in  blue & white and will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
