On November 28, 1988, the island of Grenada produced a set of stamps highlighting great all-time players for each Major League Baseball team that was in existance at that time. The three players that were honored with stamps for the Atlanta Braves were Dale Murphy, Hank Aaron, and Warren Spahn. An advantage that foreign countries have over the U.S. is that they are able to issue stamps for living people. In the U.S. a person has to have been dead for at least 10 years before being elligible for a stamp. The exception are presidents who will get a stamp within a year of their death. Shown here is the genuine First Day Cover for Dale Murphy, with his stamp cancelled from Grenada on the first day of issue.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a full-color drawing of a player batting plus the logos for the National and American Leagues. Historic, collectible, this is one of the many Braves items offered by Wall Art Collectibles.
Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
