Congressional... On
August 26, 1999, the USPS issued a set of five stamps celebrating five
different historic passenger trains. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp commemorating the Congressional, one of the best known trains of the Pennsylvania Railroad, cancelled from the city of issue (Cleveland, Ohio) on the first day of issue
captioned above. PRR converted from steam to electric power on the
Congressional line, running between New York City and Washington DC,
making "Every Mile Electrified."
The color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a black and white photo of the Congressional, encompassing the entire envelope. Great art, unaddressed, this cover is a collectible, historic piece of railroad and postal memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Commentary Included***
