The USPS issued a stamp in 1973 honoring American composer, George Gershwin. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with Gershwin's stamp cancelled form the city of issue (Beverly Hills, Ca.) on the first day of issue (February 28, 1973.)
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features Gershwin, who incorporated jazz into his compositions, creating a new musical genre - symphonic jazz. Although he died at age 38, his legacy is enormous. This is a collectible, historic piece of American Music memorabilia
Double matted in green & white, it will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
