Cole Porter...
The USPS issued a stamp in 1991 honoring American composer, Cole Porter. His theme was love, and, let's face it, his love-songs are and will forever remain classics. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with Porter's stamp cancelled form the city of issue (Peru, Indiana) on the first day of issue (June 8, 1991.)
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a full-color portrait of Porter with the keyboard running vetically along one side. Also included is a brief commentary about Porter written by the company that produced this cove. Interestingly, his formula was to choose a title of a song and then write the words & music to suit it. This is a collectible, historic piece of American Music memorabilia
Double matted in blue & white, it will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
