On October 1, 1995, the USPS issued a set of twenty different stamps commemorating COMIC STRIP CLASSICS.  From The Yellow Kid, the first Comic Superstar who increased newspaper sales, to antics of Nancy and Sluggo, to the world of science fiction with The Adventures of Flash Gordon, to the madcap inventions of Rube Goldberg, the Newspaper Comic Strip evolved into an American Institution.  Some characters even went on to have their own TV Shows, Full Length Movies, and Broadway Musicals!

Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the stamp for Li'l Abner. cancelled from the city of issue (Boca Raton, FL), on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special postmark designed and used to cancel this stamp on its 'birthday.'

The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features a worried Li'l Abner and Daisy Mae. Unaddressed, historic, and collectible you'll love this piece of Americana.

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
