On February 27, 1985, the USPS issued an imprinted postcard to commemorate America's most magnificent clipper ship, the Flying Cloud.  Launched in 1851, her remarkable saling record of Boston to San Francisco in 89 days was only matched by one other ship. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the imprint or "stamp" cancelled from the city of issue (Salem, Mass.) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the Flying Cloud under full sail printed on silk.  Great art, unaddressed, this cover is a collectible, historic piece of sailing memorabilia.

Double matted in blue & white, this piece will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included ***
