On September 17, 1999, the USPS issued a set of fifteen stamps to commemorate people and events of the decade of the 1960's. Shown here is one of these events, The Civil Rights Movement, on a genuine FIRST DAY COVER, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the CITY OF ISSUE (Green Bay, Wisconsin) on the FIRST DAY OF ISSUE captioned above. The stamp depicts Dr. Martin Luther King with the Washington Monument in the background to symbolize King's march on Washington and his "I Have a Dream" speech in 1963.
The full-color CACHET (artwork on the envelope) features a Black American in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Collectible, historic, this piece is one of many Black Heritage items offered by Wall Art Collectibles.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED - A SHORT COMMENTARY ABOUT THIS EVENT IS ALSO INCLUDED***
