On May 7, 1997, the USPS issued an imprinted postcard with the imprint or "stamp" commemorating the 150th Anniversary of the City College of New York. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, in this case a postcard with the imprint or "stamp" cancelled from the city of issue (New York City) the first day of issue captioned above.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) depicts Shepard Hall with its Collegiate Gothic style of architecture, which is also featured on the "stamp." Printed on silk, the luster lends an almost three-dimensional quality to the picture.
