On May 19, 2005, the USPS issued a set of twelve stamps to honor MASTERWORKS OF MODERN AMERICAN ARCHITECTURE. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the Chysler Building in New York City. The envelope has the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Las Vegas, Nevada) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features the magnificent upper portion of the building with lighting showing off the art deco elements that never cease to thrill. Designed by William Van Alen and completed in 1930, the Chysler Building features many decorative designs associated with automobiles.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included as well as a short commentary on this MASTER OF MODERN ARCHITECTURE***
