Year of the Monkey - 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004.....On January 13, 2004, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the Year of the Monkey in the Chinese New Year. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (San Francisco, CA) on the first day of issue captioned above.  All stamps in this series were designed by artist Clarence Lee, who created an innovative, yet traditional look, by combining paper-cut type designs with calligraphy.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) is printed on silk and features a monkey on a branch against a Chinese red background.  The artwork is surrounded by a border of embossed gold.

Double matted in green & white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
