Year of the Horse - 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002.....On February 11, 2002, the USPS issued a stamp to commemorate the Year of the Horse in the Chinese New Year. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (New York, NY) on the first day of issue captioned above. All stamps in this series were designed by artist Clarence Lee, who created an innovative, yet traditional look, by combining paper-cut type designs with calligraphy.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) is printed on silk and features a handsome horse against a violet-blue background. The artwork is surrounded by a border of embossed gold.
Double matted in blue & white, this piece is sized to fit a standard 8 X 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
