The Royal Mail of Great Britain issued a set of stamps in 1990 commemorating Smiles....yes, smiles! One of these is for the Man in the Moon. If you love children's literature, and why not nursery rhymes, or things that are whimsical, this First Day Cover is for you. The smiling moon on the stamp is joined by a cachet (artwork on the envelope) depicting the cow, the dish, the spoon...you know the rest.
In keeping with the "smile"theme, the cancellation features the Cheshire Cat. Cancelled from the city of issue (Edinburgh) on the first day of issue (February 6, 1990), this cover is collectible and historic.
