On January 10, 2006, the USPS and Great Britain each issued a set of eight stamps - two jointly - to commemorate Favorite Children's Book Animal Characters. Shown here is the genuine First Day Cover for Wilbur, the jaunty pig who is the friend of Charlotte the Spider in E.B. White's Charlotte's Web, one of the best loved children's books of all time. The envelope shows the cancellation from the U.S. city of issue (Findlay, Ohio) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the wonderful postmark created to cancel this set of stamps on the first day!
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a precious pig reading a book. The picture is printed on silk, the luster making the colors 'pop' and look three-dimensional.
