Charles Dickens.....

On June 3, 1970, the Royal Mail of Great Britain issued four stamps to honor the premier author of the Victorian age...Charles Dickens on the 100th anniversary of his death (he actually died June 9, 1870.)  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with all four stamps illustrating four characters from four of his many novels....Pickwick from The Pickwick Papers; Micawber, modeled after Dickens' own father, from David Copperfield; David Copperfield from David Copperfield; and Oliver from Oliver Twist.  The stamps are cancelled from the city of issue (Harrow and Wembly) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The color cachet depicts a portrait of Dickens with a facsimile of signature on the bottom.

Historic, collectible, it's double matted in  blue & white and will fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
