From 1961 to 1965, the USPS issued a stamp each year commemorating an event for each year of the Civil War. Starting with Ft. Sumter in 1961, Shiloh in 1962, Gettysburg in 1963, the Wilderness in 1964, and ending with Appomattox in 1965. This is known as the Centennial Set. Due to the age and collectibility of these covers, they have become scarce. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the Gettysburg stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Gettysburg, Pa.) on the first day of issue (July 1, 1963.)
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a blue & white picture of the battlefield. Historic, collectible this is one of many Civil War pieces of memorabilia offered by Wall Art Collectibles.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
