Cub Scouts - Norman Rockwell Print with Matching Liberia Cover.....
On September 1, 1979, the country of Liberia issued a series of stamps commemorating the Boy Scout art of Norman Rockwell, who created so many memorable pictures for the annual Boy Scout Calendar. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Monrovia, Liberia) on the first day of issue captioned above. This particular stamp shows artwork of two Cub Scouts being shown how to build a birdhouse by an older Scout. The full-color picture on the stamp is repeated on the cachet (artwork on the envelope.) The cancellation of the stamp shows the Scout insignia and another cancellation of a hand in the Scout Salute says, "In Commemoration of Norman Rockwell."
We've joined this cover with the same full-color print by Norman Rockwell. It's a perfect gift for the Cub Scout or Scout Leader and highlights the Scouting tradition of the 'passing down' of knowledge.
Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 11 x 14 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
