On January 9, 1988, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the Statehood of Connecticut. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the full-color stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Hartford, CT) on the first day of issue captioned above.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) features portraits of Roger Sherman and Dr. William Samuel Sherman, who led Connecticut to become the fifth state to ratify the Constitution. The company that produced this cover has also written a brief commentary about Connecticut, which we've included.

Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame.  ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
