Conestoga Wagon.... On
February 29, 1988, the USPS issued a stamp to celebrate the freight
wagon that enabled the migration West in the 1700 and 1800's - the Conestoga Wagon. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Conestoga, PA) on the first day of issue captioned above. In short, it's the 'birthday' of the stamp - a collectible, historic piece of postal memorabilia.
The full-color cachet
(artwork on the envelope) shows a family stopping to do washing and
rest on their trek West, their Conestoga Wagon featured prominently.
It's printed on silk
with a border of embossed gold. Whether you collect Postal Memorabilia
or Southwest Art, this piece will be a welcome addition to your wall.
Double matted in blue and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
