On September 28, 1983, the United Nations issued a stamp honoring the country of China with a stamp depicting the National Flag of China. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (United Nations, New York) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the special cancellation designed to cancel this stamp on its 'birthday.'
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) celebrates the many facets of China - the oldest surviving civilization on earth - from the Great Wall to the Giant Panda, the Chinese Junk and its proud seafaring tradition, to the dragon of the Chinese New Year, the ancient symbol of power, fertility and well-being. The company that produced this cover has also included a brief commentary about China, which we've included.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
