What do you see when you look at this photo of Chief Joseph? Nobility? Sorrow? Exhaustion? Chances are you see it all. Hounded by the white man, Chief Joseph led his people, the Nez Perce, in retreat until final capture and exile in Oklahoma. Buried in the state of Washington, the inscription on his monument says, "Thunder Rolling in the Mountain"
The photo is joined by the collectible, uncancelled stamp of Chief Joseph issued by the USPS in 1968.
