On February 6, 1990, the Royal Poste of Great Britain issued a set of stamps celebrating "Smiles." One of these stamps honors the Cheshire Cat, whose lingering grin even after his body disappears constantly delights us. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover for the Cheshire Cat stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Edinburgh) on the first day of issue captioned above. Note the clever cancellation depicting the Cheshire Cat created to cancel this stamp on the first day of its issue.
The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a charming drawing of five at a birthday party, obviously more interested in the fish than the cake. This producer of this cover has also printed a short commentary on the back of the envelope about the this celebrated literary cat; we've made a copy for you. If you're a "cat person" and love to read...well, this may have your name on it.
Matted in blue, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
