CAROUSEL HORSE Gustav Dentzel 1st Day Cover DENTZEL CAROUSEL HORSE Stamp.....

On July 21, 1995, the USPS issued a set of four stamps commemorating the Carrousel Horse.  Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover showing the stamp for a Carousel Horse, carved by Gustav Dentzel, cancelled from the city of issue (Lahaska, PA) on the first day of issue captioned above.  This magnificent steed bedecked with ribbons, tassels and roses was once the star attraction of a merry-go-round in Rockaway Beach, NY.

The full-color cachet (artwork on the envelope) features a beautiful blond carrousel horse with small carousel bird figures.  Salvatore Cernigliaro, who worked for Dentzel, is credited with creating a menagerie of whimsical animals in addition to the horse.  The company that produced this cover also wrote a short commentary on carrousel horses.  We have included a copy for you. You can find out the difference between American carrousel styles: Philadelphia Style, Coney Island Style, and Country Fair Style.

Double matted in blue and white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity plus Commentary Included***
