On July 16, 1968, the USPS issued a stamp commemorating the 200th Anniversary of California Settlement. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the full-color stamp, depicting the first of 21 West Coast Missions - 9 founded personally by Fr. Junipero Serra, San Diego de Alcala, cancelled from the city of issue (San Diego, CA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope produced by a private company, not the post office) shows the Mission, Fr. Junipero Serra, and the State of California.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8x10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
