Buffalo Bill Cody..... On October 18, 1994, the USPS issued a set of 20 stamps called Legends of the West. This stamp is one of those and honors legendary showman, scout, pony express rider, and the man that personified the West... William F. Cody - "Buffalo Bill". Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the city of issue (Laramie, Wyoming) on the first day of issue captioned above. In short, it's the 'birthday' of the stamp - a collectible, historic piece of postal and Western memorabilia.
The cachet (artwork
on the envelope) shows a beautiful portrait of Buffalo Bill by award
winning artist Chris Calle. The caption below reads, "Buffalo Bill -
Pony Express rider, scout and showman, personifying the romance of the
Wild West." The company that produced this cover has also written a
brief commentary about Buffalo Bull which we've included.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 picture frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY plus COMMENTARY INCLUDED***
