On October 17, 1998, the USPS issued an imprinted postcard with the imprint or "stamp" commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Brandeis University located in Waltham, Massachusetts. Named for Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, Brandeis is the youngest private research university in the country, as well as the nation's first Jewish-sponsored nonsectarian university. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, in this case a postcard with the imprint or "stamp" cancelled from the city of issue (Waltam, MA) the first day of issue captioned above.
The cachet (artwork on the envelope) depicts Usen Castle, built of colonial fieldstone and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. Usen Castle is also featured on the "stamp." The producer of this cover has also included a brief history of the university on the back; we have included a copy for you.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
