Boy Scouts Scouting 100th Anniversary Matted 2010 First Day of Issue Postal Cover.... On July 27, 2010, the USPS issued a 44-cents stamp commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Scouting to coincide with the National Scouting Jamboree held at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia. The 10-day event hosted over 35,00 scouts and leaders. Shown here is a genuine 1st Day Cover - an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the 'city of issue' (Ft. A. P. Hill, VA) on the first day of issue
captioned above. Note the large special postmark featuring a 'wood'
border, created expressly to cancel this stamp on its 'birthday.'
The cachet (artwork on
the envelope) features an old scouting poster highlighting Loyalty,
Service and Patriotism. The picture is printed on silk
surrounded by an embossed gold border, and is produced by a private
company - the USPS is not allowed to produce artwork on a first day
cover. You'll want to add this beautiful cover to your Scouting
memorabilia.
Double matted in green & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
