On February 3, 1989, the USPS issued a stamp to honor Black labor leader, A. Philip Randolph. Shown here is a genuine FIRST DAY COVER, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the CITY OF ISSUE (New York City) on the FIRST DAY OF ISSUE captioned above.
The full-color CACHET (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Randolph printed on silk in front of a Pullman Car, symbolizing his organizing Blacks into the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters which now is a part of the Brotherhood of Railway and Airline Clerks. This is a collectible, historic piece of Black Heritage and Labor memorabilia.
Double matted in dark green and rust, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
