On July 23, 2004, the USPS issued a stamp to honor author, playwright, James Baldwin. Shown here is a genuine FIRST DAY COVER, an envelope with the new stamp cancelled from the CITY OF ISSUE (New York City) on the FIRST DAY OF ISSUE captioned above. Note the unique cancellation mark designed to cancel this stamp on its "birthday."
The full-color CACHET (artwork on the envelope) features a portrait of Baldwin printed on silk surrounded by gold embossing. This is a collectible, historic piece of Black Heritage memorabilia.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY INCLUDED***
