Bicentennial of the U.S, Post Office... On September 3, 1975, the USPS issued a set of four stamps commemorating the Bicentennial of the U.S. Postal Service. Shown here is a genuine First Day Cover, an envelope with all four stamps cancelled from the city of issue (Philadelphia, PA) on the first day of issue captioned above.
The black & white cachet (artwork on the envelope) shows a portrait of Benjamin Franklin, the first postmaster, and four modes of transportation used to deliver the mail - plane, ship, train, and stagecoach.
Double matted in blue & white, it's sized to fit a standard 8 x 10 frame. ***Certificate of Authenticity Included***
